Understanding Where the Money Goes

Do you ever wonder what happens to the money you earn each week? Does it feel like you are always short of cash and you are scrapping to find money all the time.

If this sounds familiar to you, then don’t worry, you’re not alone. This scenario plays out to millions of people all over the world, with many people unaware that there is help available – you just need to know where to look.

The first thing you can try is to sort your finances out yourself. There are plenty of great articles online to help with this, and plenty of amazing personal finance bloggers that provide lots of great information for free.

For me personally, when I was trying to work out where my money went each week, I did the only thing that made sense to me – I started tracking it. I tracked it right down to every cent and this helped me understand where my money was atually going. Once I had done that for a couple of months I was then able to form a budget and include a small amount of savings each week. From that point onwards I have been pretty good with my money and even managed to pay off my house in 7 years.

Getting Help

If you don’t think the DIY approach will help, or you just can’t get your head around how best to handle your finances, it’s best off that you take the time to go and see a professional. They will walk you though what you need to do step by step and tailor a program to suit both your needs, goals and income.

It might seem like spending money to help getting a better understanding of money is counter intuitive, but in some situations it really is the best option, particularly if you just aren’t getting ahead and can’t see yourself ever being financially independent.
